EWANGELIA - Mt 20, 20-28 (Kielich mój pić będziecie)

Matka synów Zebedeusza podeszła do Jezusa ze swoimi synami i oddając Mu pokłon, o coś Go prosiła.
On ją zapytał: «Czego pragniesz?».
Rzekła Mu: «Powiedz, żeby ci dwaj moi synowie zasiedli w Twoim królestwie, jeden po prawej, a drugi po lewej Twej stronie».
Odpowiadając Jezus rzekł: «Nie wiecie, o co prosicie. Czy możecie pić kielich, który Ja mam pić?».
Odpowiedzieli Mu: «Możemy».
On rzekł do nich: «Kielich mój pić będziecie. Nie do Mnie jednak należy dać miejsce po mojej stronie prawej i lewej, ale dostanie się ono tym, dla których mój Ojciec je przygotował».
Gdy dziesięciu pozostałych to usłyszało, oburzyli się na tych dwóch braci.
A Jezus przywołał ich do siebie i rzekł: «Wiecie, że władcy narodów uciskają je, a wielcy dają im odczuć swą władzę. Nie tak będzie u was. Lecz kto by między wami chciał się stać wielkim, niech będzie waszym sługą. A kto by chciał być pierwszym między wami, niech będzie niewolnikiem waszym. Na wzór Syna Człowieczego, który nie przyszedł, aby Mu służono, lecz aby służyć i dać swoje życie na okup za wielu».

MEDYTACJA

Jezus pyta o nasze pragnienia. Chce usłyszeć o tym, co jest ukryte w nas. Chce stworzyć bezpieczne warunki do szczerego sięgnięcia po nasze marzenia
i plany. Usłyszmy pytanie Jezusa: Czego pragniesz?...

Wraz z wypowiedzianymi pragnieniami może pojawić się mnóstwo argumentów, żeby nie traktować ich poważnie. Zupełnie jak w dzisiejszej Ewangelii: dziesięciu uczniów złości się na dwóch za to, że zdobyli się na szczerość...

Jezus od początku z uwagą i troską uczestniczy w naszej modlitwie. Wsłuchuje się w różne głosy, które pojawiają się w nas. Akceptuje je wszystkie i jest gotów porozmawiać o nich z nami...

Porozmawiajmy z Jezusem o odwadze, by być sobą. Spójrzmy wraz z Nim na te miejsca w nas, gdzie jesteśmy przepełnieni pragnieniami lub na te, gdzie jesteśmy wewnętrznie skłóceni. On jest z nami zawsze...

Czasami szukamy właściwej definicji miłości. Okazuje się, że wcale nie jest łatwo ją znaleźć, ponieważ jest wiele określeń tak ważnej sprawy dla życia
i szczęścia człowieka jaką jest Miłość...

Lekcję miłości daje nam swoim życiem Jezus, który 'nie przyszedł, aby Mu służono, lecz aby służyć i dać swoje życie na okup za wielu'. Miłość to służba. Tam gdzie mówi się o miłości, chęci dania szczęścia drugiej osobie a nie ma się zamiaru brać się do roboty oraz nie ma się zamiaru służyć, tam nie możemy mówić
o miłości...

Jezus stale posługiwał, służył ludziom aż po Krzyż. Jeśli chcemy być wielkim człowiekiem i komuś chcemy wyznać miłość, to najpierw popatrzmy na siebie, na swoje życie i zapytajmy się ile czasu poświęcamy sobie a ile bliźnim. Wówczas zobaczymy prawdę o sobie...

Matka Jakuba i Jana, synów Zebedeusza, należy go grupy kobiet, które szły za Jezusem od Galilei i będą przy Nim pod krzyżem na Golgocie. Jej prośba jest jednak niestosowna, wręcz skandaliczna, zwłaszcza, że pada tuż po zapowiedzi męki. Uczniowie wciąż nie rozumieją tego, ku czemu Jezus ich prowadzi. Matka uczniów ‘oddaje Mu pokłon i o coś prosi’...

Pobożne słowa modlitwy mogą być ‘przewrotne’ w treści. Otoczka, czy ‘pozory’ religijności mogą skrywać coś bardzo przyziemnego, diabolicznego wręcz, bo chcą wykorzystać Boga do egoistycznych ludzkich celów. Lecz Bóg nie wysłuchuje takich próśb...

Nie moja lecz Twoja wola. Trudno nam przychodzi rezygnować z własnych wyobrażeń i próśb. Modlimy się, by Bóg uczynił to, co chcemy, a nie prosimy o to, czego On chce. Dlatego źle by było, gdyby Bóg nas wysłuchał. Ale On spełnia tylko swoje obietnice, płynące z miłości, a nie z naszego egoizmu...

Mistrz powiedział jednoznacznie i radykalnie, że między uczniami ma być miłość, przebaczenie, pokój, jedność i służba, a nie bieganie za stanowiskami czy władzą za wszelką cenę. Po prostu ma dziać się Ewangelia...

Tajemnica cierpienia dotyka każdego człowieka, bo jest skutkiem grzechu pierworodnego, mimo to jest tajemnicą. Cierpimy ponosząc konsekwencje własnego zła, ale czasem zadawane jest nam przez zło innych ludzi, a czasem trudno znaleźć jego przyczynę. I choć wiemy, że może nas oczyścić, uwrażliwić, przybliżyć do Chrystusa, to jednak buntujemy się, gdy go doświadczamy...

Gdy cierpimy często pytamy Boga dlaczego nas to spotyka? Ten bunt wypływa z braku zgody na to, by działo się w naszym życiu tak, jak Bóg chce, a także
z braku zaufania, że cierpienie ma sens...

Twarda lekcja dla Jakuba i Jana. Myśleli o byciu pierwszymi, ważniejszymi. Chcieli to sobie załatwić po cichu. Jezus publicznie wskazał im inną, mało atrakcyjną drogę do wielkości: drogę służby. I chyba tę lekcję zrozumieli, bo służba, nie dążenie do władzy, stała się potem ich drogą życia...

Jeżeli chcemy być naprawdę wielcy - służmy. Służmy niestrudzenie. Spalajmy się dla dobra innych, nie żądając niczego w zamian...

...Jezu, proszę o postawę służby cichej, ukrytej i o wolność serca od wywyższania się... Proszę o umiejętność rozeznania, co jest ‘wolą Boga’ a nie moim ludzkim oczekiwaniem... Dziękuję za niewysłuchane modlitwy, bo Bóg wie lepiej czego nam potrzeba...

GOSPEL - Mt 20, 20-28 (You will drink my cup)

The mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and, worshiping Him, asked Him for something.
He asked her, "What do you want?"
She said to him, "Command that these two sons of mine may sit in your kingdom, one on your right and the other on your left."
Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I drink?»
They answered him, "We can."
He said to them, “You will drink my cup. But it is not up to me to give a place on my right and on my left, but it will be given to those for whom my Father has prepared it.”
When the other ten heard this, they became indignant with the two brothers.
And Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them, and the great ones exercise authority over them. This will not be the case with you. But whoever would become great among you must be your servant. And whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. Like the Son of Man, who came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

MEDITATION

Jesus asks about our desires. He wants to hear about what is hidden inside us. He wants to create safe conditions for sincere reaching for our dreams
and plans. Let us hear Jesus' question: What do you want?...

Along with expressed desires, there may be many arguments not to take them seriously. Just like in today's Gospel: ten disciples get angry at two for being honest...

From the very beginning, Jesus participates in our prayer with attention and care. We listen to the different voices that appear within us. He accepts them all and is ready to talk about them with us...

Let's talk to Jesus about the courage to be yourself. Let us look with Him at those places within us where we are filled with desires or at those where we are internally conflicted. He is with us always...

Sometimes we look for the right definition of love. It turns out that it is not easy to find it, because there are many definitions for such an important issue for human life and happiness as Love...

Jesus gives us a lesson of love with his life, who 'came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many'. Love is service. Where we talk about love, the desire to give happiness to another person and there is no intention to work and no intention to serve, we cannot talk about love...

Jesus constantly ministered and served people until the Cross. If we want to be a great person and want to confess our love to someone, let's first look at ourselves, at our lives and ask ourselves how much time we devote to ourselves and how much to our neighbors. Then we will see the truth about ourselves...

The mother of James and John, sons of Zebedee, she belongs to the group of women who followed Jesus from Galilee and will be with Him under the cross on Golgotha. However, her request is inappropriate, even scandalous, especially since it comes right after the announcement of her suffering. The disciples still do not understand what Jesus is leading them towards. The mother of the disciples 'worships Him and asks Him for something'...

Pious words of prayer can be 'perverse' in content. The veneer or 'appearance' of religiosity may hide something very mundane, even diabolical, because they want to use God for selfish human purposes. But God does not listen to such requests...

Not my will, but yours. It is difficult for us to give up our own ideas and requests. We pray for God to do what we want, not ask for what He wants. Therefore, it would be bad if God listened to us. But He only fulfills His promises, flowing from love, not from our selfishness...

The Master said clearly and radically that there should be love, forgiveness, peace, unity and service among the disciples, and not running for positions or power at any cost. The Gospel is simply supposed to happen...

The mystery of suffering affects every human being because it is the result of original sin, yet it is a mystery. We suffer the consequences of our own evil, but sometimes it is caused to us by the evil of other people, and sometimes it is difficult to find its cause. And although we know that it can purify us, sensitize us, bring us closer to Christ, we still rebel when we experience it...

When we suffer, we often ask God why this is happening to us? This rebellion comes from the lack of consent to let things happen in our lives the way God wants, as well as from the lack of trust that suffering makes sense...

A hard lesson for James and John. They thought about being first, more important. They wanted to settle it quietly. Jesus publicly showed them another, less attractive path to greatness: the path of service. And they probably understood this lesson, because service, not striving for power, later became their path of life...

If we want to be truly great, let's serve. Let us serve tirelessly. Let us burn ourselves for the good of others, without demanding anything in return...

...Jesus, I am asking for an attitude of silent, hidden service and for the freedom of my heart from exalting myself... I am asking for the ability to discern what is 'God's will' and not my human expectation... Thank you for unanswered prayers, because God knows better what we need...
