EWANGELIA - Mt 14, 13-21 (Cudowne rozmnożenie chleba)

Gdy Jezus usłyszał o śmierci Jana Chrzciciela, oddalił się stamtąd w łodzi na miejsce pustynne, osobno. Lecz tłumy zwiedziały się o tym i z miast poszły za Nim pieszo. Gdy wysiadł, ujrzał wielki tłum. Zlitował się nad nimi i uzdrowił ich chorych.
A gdy nastał wieczór, przystąpili do Niego uczniowie i rzekli: «Miejsce to jest puste i pora już spóźniona. Każ więc rozejść się tłumom: niech idą do wsi
i zakupią sobie żywności».
Lecz Jezus im odpowiedział: «Nie potrzebują odchodzić; wy dajcie im jeść».
Odpowiedzieli Mu: «Nie mamy tu nic prócz pięciu chlebów i dwóch ryb».
On rzekł: «Przynieście Mi je tutaj».
Kazał tłumom usiąść na trawie, następnie wziąwszy pięć chlebów i dwie ryby, spojrzał w niebo, odmówił błogosławieństwo i połamawszy chleby dał je uczniom, uczniowie zaś tłumom. Jedli wszyscy do sytości, i zebrano z tego, co pozostało, dwanaście pełnych koszy ułomków. Tych zaś, którzy jedli, było około pięciu tysięcy mężczyzn, nie licząc kobiet i dzieci.

MEDYTACJA

Jezus, dowiedziawszy się o śmierci Jana Chrzciciela, szuka samotności i ciszy pustkowia. Tłumy jednak, nie wiedząc o tym, wciąż za Nim podążają. On, na widok ich pragnienia i cierpienia doświadcza wewnętrznego poruszenia, które głęboko Go dotyka. Pomimo, że pokrzyżowało to Jego plany, znajduje dla nich czas i uzdrawia ich z chorób...

Gdy nastała późna godzina, pojawiła się kwestia, jak nakarmić rzeszę ludzi. Uczniowie Jezusa chcą rozwiązać problem według zasad ludzkiej mądrości. Nauczyciel przedstawia im jednak inną propozycję: 'wy dajcie im jeść'. To, co mogło wydawać się nieprawdopodobne, z Jezusem objawia się jako dające życie w obfitości...

"Szczęśliwe oczy, które widzą, co wy widzicie. Bo wielu (…) pragnęło ujrzeć to, co wy widzicie, a nie ujrzeli" (Łk 10, 23-24)...

Uświadomić sobie jak bardzo Bóg nas obdarzył, to wielka łaska. Warto dzisiaj, podczas refleksji i modlitwy, uświadomić sobie, ile od Boga otrzymaliśmy,
a zwłaszcza, że obdarzył nas łaską wiary i poznania Go...

Jezus ‘usłyszał’ historię o tym, co zrobił Herod z Janem Chrzcicielem i oddalił się wraz z uczniami na miejsce samotne, daleko od tłumu. Ale po raz kolejny zostaje ‘zaskoczony’. Obecność ludzi zmienia Jego plany...

Cud chleba wspominany jest w Ewangeliach sześć razy. Ma zawsze wydźwięk eucharystyczny. Wspólnota, która go wspomina i celebruje ma świadomość, że został jej powierzony dar Syna, który ma przekazywać ‘zgłodniałej’ ludzkości. Uczniowie jeszcze nie potrafią zrozumieć problemów, z jakimi się stykają. Jezus uczy ich zaufania i wiary w Bożą opatrzność...

'Wy dajcie im jeść!'. To dosyć kategoryczne słowa Jezusa, które zmuszają uczniów do działania. Apostołowie są zaniepokojeni i bezradni. Rozwiązanie nie przychodzi jednak przez ich zapobiegliwość, ale przez wiarę i posłuszeństwo Bogu...

Uczniowie słyszą od Jezusa następujące słowa: 'Nie potrzebują odchodzić; wy dajcie im jeść!'. To wezwanie jest ważne i dzisiaj. Czym, jako chrześcijanie, jako katolicy, karmimy ludzi obok nas? Czym karmimy 'świat'? Nie musi to być takie spektakularne jak Jezusowe rozmnożenie chleba i ryb. Oby to był Bóg
i Ewangelia, miłowanie nie tylko 'za coś', ale 'pomimo czegoś'...

Nie warto karmić się złudzeniami. Warto życie oprzeć na tym, który faktycznie wszystko może - na Bogu. Ale to oznacza też traktować na serio to, czego uczy i czego od człowieka wymaga...

Bóg nie chowa się za liczbami i statystykami. Nie zagląda w nasze portfele i CV. Nie wybiera najmocniejszych, najzdolniejszych lub najbogatszych, ale tych, którzy są w stanie dać Mu wszystko, co mają. Tu rozpoczynają się cuda. Tu z zdziwieniem przecieramy oczy. Dałem tak niewiele, a Bóg uczynił z tego tak wiele. Daj, co masz, nie chowając nic dla siebie. Resztę uczyni Bóg...

...Jezu, proszę o wiarę w Ciebie działającego z mocą w moim życiu... Proszę o łaskę zrozumienia, że to Ty działasz przez zwyczajne gesty dobroci i miłosierdzia, pomnażając je... Dziękuję, że jesteś ze mną w moich chwilach bezradności...

GOSPEL - Mt 14, 13-21 (The miraculous multiplication of the loaves)

When Jesus heard of the death of John the Baptist, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But the crowds heard about
it and followed him on foot from the cities. When he got out, he saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
And when evening came, the disciples came to him and said, "This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Command the crowds to go away,
and let them go into the villages and buy themselves food."
But Jesus answered them, "They need not go away; you give them something to eat."
They answered him, "We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish."
He said, "Bring them here to me."
He ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, then took five loaves and two fish, looked up to heaven, said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowds. They all ate until they were satisfied, and they gathered twelve baskets full of broken pieces from what was left. Those who ate were about five thousand men, not counting women and children.

MEDITATION

Jesus, having learned of the death of John the Baptist, seeks the solitude and silence of the desert. However, the crowds, unaware of this, continue to follow Him. At the sight of their thirst and suffering, He experiences an inner stirring that touches Him deeply. Although this has thwarted His plans, He finds time for them and heals their diseases...

When it was late, the question arose of how to feed the crowd. The disciples of Jesus want to solve the problem according to the principles of human wisdom. The teacher, however, presents them with a different proposal: 'you give them something to eat'. What might have seemed improbable, with Jesus
is revealed as giving life in abundance...

"Blessed are the eyes that see what you see, for many (…) have desired to see what you see and have not seen it" (Lk 10:23-24)...

Becoming aware of how much God has given us is a great grace. Today, during reflection and prayer, it is worth realizing how much we have received from God, and especially that He has given us the grace of faith and knowing Him...

Jesus 'heard' the story of what Herod did with John the Baptist and withdrew with his disciples to a lonely place, far from the crowd. But once again he
is 'surprised'. The presence of people changes his plans...

The miracle of the bread is mentioned six times in the Gospels. It always has a Eucharistic tone. The community that commemorates and celebrates
it is aware that it has been entrusted with the gift of the Son, who is to pass on to ‘hungry’ humanity. The disciples are not yet able to understand the problems they face. Jesus teaches them trust and faith in God’s providence...

‘You give them something to eat!’ These are quite categorical words of Jesus, which force the disciples to act. The apostles are worried and helpless. However, the solution does not come through their foresight, but through faith and obedience to God...

The disciples hear the following words from Jesus: ‘They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!’ This call is still important today. How, as Christians, as Catholics, do we feed the people around us? How do we feed the ‘world’? It does not have to be as spectacular as Jesus’ multiplication of loaves and fish. Let it be God and the Gospel, loving not only ‘for something’, but ‘despite something’...

It is not worth feeding on illusions. It is worth basing your life on the one who can actually do everything - on God. But this also means taking seriously what He teaches and what He requires of man...

God does not hide behind numbers and statistics. He does not look into our wallets and CVs. He does not choose the strongest, most talented or richest, but those who are able to give Him everything they have. This is where miracles begin. This is where we rub our eyes in amazement. I gave so little, and God made so much of it. Give what you have, without keeping anything for yourself. God will do the rest...

...Jesus, I ask for faith in You, who works with power in my life... I ask for the grace to understand that You are the one who works through ordinary gestures of kindness and mercy, multiplying them... Thank you for being with me in my moments of helplessness...
