EWANGELIA - Łk 10, 1-9 (Żniwo jest wielkie, ale robotników mało)

Spośród swoich uczniów wyznaczył Pan jeszcze innych, siedemdziesięciu dwóch, i wysłał ich po dwóch przed sobą do każdego miasta i miejscowości, dokąd sam przyjść zamierzał.
Powiedział też do nich: «Żniwo wprawdzie wielkie, ale robotników mało; proście więc Pana żniwa, żeby wyprawił robotników na swoje żniwo.
Idźcie, oto was posyłam jak owce między wilki. Nie noście z sobą trzosa ani torby, ani sandałów; i nikogo w drodze nie pozdrawiajcie.
Gdy do jakiego domu wejdziecie, najpierw mówcie: „Pokój temu domowi!” Jeśli tam mieszka człowiek godny pokoju, wasz pokój spocznie na nim; jeśli nie, powróci do was. W tym samym domu zostańcie, jedząc i pijąc, co mają: bo zasługuje robotnik na swoją zapłatę. Nie przechodźcie z domu do domu. Jeśli do jakiego miasta wejdziecie i przyjmą was, jedzcie, co wam podadzą; uzdrawiajcie chorych, którzy tam są, i mówcie im: „Przybliżyło się do was królestwo Boże”».

MEDYTACJA

Jezus wysłał siedemdziesięciu dwóch uczniów, by poszli tam, gdzie On zamierza przyjść. To nieprzypadkowa liczba. W czasach Jezusa uważano, że oprócz Żydów istnieją siedemdziesiąt dwa inne narody. Oznacza to, że Jezus chce przyjść do wszystkich ludzi. Jednak spotkania z Bogiem wiążą się ze spotkaniami
z drugim człowiekiem...

Pierwszym zadaniem ucznia jest przynoszenie pokoju. Ten pokój można przynosić poprzez ukazywanie miłości i troski Boga, dobre słowo, dawanie nadziei, życzliwość i uważne wysłuchanie kogoś...

Każdy z nas jest uczniem i został posłany, by głosić Królestwo Boże. Nie oznacza to, że każdy ma stać się wędrownym kaznodzieją. Całe życie chrześcijanina jest drogą, na której spotyka innych ludzi. Chodzi o to, by żyć tak, aby stać się dla nich żywą Ewangelią, by być swoistą 'reklamą' Jezusa, aby wnosić w życie innych pokój i błogosławieństwo...

Jezus posyła swoich uczniów z orędziem pokoju. Pokój jest darem i zadaniem dla tych, którzy to orędzie przyjmą. Jako chrześcijanie powinniśmy otworzyć się na to przesłanie...

Bardzo często zamiast pokoju wybieramy spokój. Nieraz mówimy nawet o tak zwanym 'świętym spokoju'. Można go mieć nawet za cenę zniszczenia swojego sumienia. Ile razy dla 'świętego spokoju' szliśmy na kompromis ze złem, grzechem i kłamstwem? Ile razy udawaliśmy innych i nie byliśmy sobą? Ile razy łamaliśmy swoje prawe sumienia?...

Tylko Ewangelista Łukasz wspomina o tej misji siedemdziesięciu dwóch uczniów. Wyznacza ich Jezus. Są oni przedłużeniem misji apostołów wobec wszystkich ludów ziemi. Podkreślona jest uniwersalność misji. To nie fanatyzm czy prozelityzm, ale głoszenie i postępowanie tak, jak Jezus...

Misja, to nie jest przymus, narzucanie czegokolwiek, ale ofiarowywanie siebie, branie swojego krzyża w prostocie i ubóstwie, w wolności akceptując rzeczywistość, która jest Boża...

Kościół nie wyklucza. Wszystko jest rzeczywistością Bożą. Uczeń nie ma uprzedzeń ideologicznych, kulturalnych, politycznych, społecznych ani religijnych. Kościół jest wolny i potrafi egzystować w różnych kulturach i konfrontować się z nowymi wyzwaniami, o ile jest związany z Panem i w Nim zakorzeniony...

Jezus rozszerza stopniowo grupę uczniów, których wysyła do dzielenia się wiarą. Najpierw było ich dwunastu, na wzór dwunastu pokoleń Izraela, teraz siedemdziesięciu dwóch, na wzór znanych wówczas wszystkich siedemdziesięciu dwóch narodów, aby przed wniebowstąpieniem powiedzieć, że wszyscy chrześcijanie mają iść dzielić się wiarą, czynić kolejnych uczniów...

Grupy dwunastu i siedemdziesięciu dwóch uczniów Jezus posyła bez niczego: bez jedzenia, ubrań, laski (do odganiania 'nieczystych' ludzi i zwierząt) oraz pieniędzy – trzosa. Mają jeść, co im dają. Tak jakby chciał pokazać, że ich jedynym oparciem, że ich jedynym bogactwem, ma być wyłącznie Bóg...

Nie trzeba mieć wiele, a można nawet nic nie mieć, aby być wiarygodnym i przekonującym uczniem-misjonarzem. Dzieje się to poprzez realizację ewangelicznego sposobu życia, a czasami i przez słowa...

Uczniowie Jezusa mają być narzędziem pokoju i miłości. Rozsyłając ich 'po dwóch', Jezus pokazuje, że misja chrześcijanina to nie jest indywidualne działanie, ale wspólnota. Wzywa w niej do prostoty i zaufania, że Bóg się o nich zatroszczy. Mają głosić Dobrą Nowinę, uzdrawiać chorych i głosić, że przybliżyło się Królestwo Boże i polegać na Bożej Opatrzności...

Misja, do której powołuje nas Jezus, nie zawsze musi odbywać się w dalekich krajach. Możemy być misjonarzami w naszych rodzinach, miejscach pracy
i zamieszkania. Jezus wzywa nas do prostoty i pełnej ufności, że Bóg się o nas troszczy, zwłaszcza gdy zaangażujemy się w Jego dzieło...

Przez wysłanników Jezusa przybliża się Królestwo Boże, czyli panowanie Boga w nas, przez nasze współdziałanie z Nim i wypełnianie Jego woli. Przybliża się Jego Królestwo, gdy pozwalamy, by nas posłał do tych, którzy jeszcze o Nim nie usłyszeli, nie spotkali Go, do tych, którzy się źle mają...

Wysłannicy poprzedzają Jezusa, nie idą w swoim imieniu ani ze względu na swoje upodobania. Jedyną ich motywacją jest Jezus, relacja z Nim, to, kim On dla nich jest. Ich jedyne zabezpieczenie stanowi Jego słowo. Jezus nie obiecuje, że droga i misja będą proste. Bycie owcą pomiędzy wilkami nie zapowiada się zbyt optymistycznie, a mimo to przybliża się Królestwo...

...Jezu, proszę o wewnętrzną przejrzystość w świadczeniu o Tobie i Twojej Ewangelii... Proszę o bycie świadomym odpowiedzialności za głoszenie Ewangelii całemu światu... Dziękuję za wybranie i uzdolnienie mnie do bycia świadkiem wiary w powołaniu, jakim zostałem obdarzony...

FRIDAY, Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist

GOSPEL - Lk 10:1-9 (The harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few)

And the Lord appointed seventy-two others of his disciples, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every town and place where he himself intended to go.
And he said to them, "The harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
Go, behold, I am sending you as sheep among wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and greet no one on the way.
Whatever house you enter, first say, "Peace be to this house." If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay
in the same house, eating and drinking what they give you, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. If you enter a city and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, heal the sick in it, and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.”’

MEDITATION

Jesus sent seventy-two disciples to go where he intended to come. This is not a random number. In Jesus’ time, it was believed that there were seventy-two other nations besides the Jews. This means that Jesus wanted to come to all people. However, encounters with God are linked to encounters with other people...

The first task of a disciple is to bring peace. This peace can be brought by showing God’s love and care, by saying a kind word, giving hope, by being kind
and listening attentively to someone...

Each one of us is a disciple and has been sent to proclaim the Kingdom of God. This does not mean that everyone has to become an itinerant preacher.
The whole life of a Christian is a journey on which he meets other people. It is about living in such a way as to become a living Gospel for them, to be a kind
of 'advertisement' of Jesus, to bring peace and blessing into the lives of others...

Jesus sends his disciples with a message of peace. Peace is a gift and a task for those who accept this message. As Christians, we should open ourselves to this message...

Very often, instead of peace, we choose peace. We sometimes even talk about so-called 'holy peace'. It can be had even at the price of destroying our conscience. How many times, for the sake of 'holy peace', have we compromised with evil, sin and lies? How many times have we pretended to be others
and not been ourselves? How many times have we violated our righteous consciences?...

Only the Evangelist Luke mentions this mission of the seventy-two disciples. Jesus appoints them. They are an extension of the mission of the apostles to all the peoples of the earth. The universality of the mission is emphasized. It is not fanaticism or proselytism, but preaching and acting as Jesus did...

Mission is not coercion, imposing anything, but offering oneself, taking up one's cross in simplicity and poverty, freely accepting the reality that is God's...

The Church does not exclude. Everything is God's reality. The disciple has no ideological, cultural, political, social or religious prejudices. The Church is free and is able to exist in different cultures and confront new challenges, as long as it is connected to the Lord and rooted in Him...

Jesus gradually expands the group of disciples he sends to share the faith. First there were twelve of them, following the example of the twelve tribes
of Israel, now seventy-two, following the example of all the seventy-two nations known at that time, in order to say before the ascension that all Christians should go share their faith, make more disciples...

Jesus sends groups of twelve and seventy-two disciples without anything: without food, clothes, a staff (to chase away 'unclean' people and animals)
and money - a purse. They are to eat what is given to them. As if he wanted to show that their only support, that their only wealth, is to be God alone...

You don't have to have much, and you can even have nothing, to be a credible and convincing missionary disciple. This happens through the implementation of the Gospel way of life, and sometimes even through words...

The disciples of Jesus are to be instruments of peace and love. By sending them out 'two by two', Jesus shows that the mission of a Christian is not an individual action, but a community. In it, he calls for simplicity and trust that God will take care of them. They are to preach the Good News, heal the sick
and proclaim that the Kingdom of God has come near and rely on God's providence...

The mission to which Jesus calls us does not always have to take place in distant countries. We can be missionaries in our families, places of work
and residence. Jesus calls us to simplicity and full trust that God cares for us, especially when we engage in his work...

Through Jesus' envoys, the Kingdom of God is coming near, that is, the reign of God in us, through our cooperation with him and fulfilling his will. His Kingdom is coming near when we allow him to send us to those who have not yet heard of him, have not met him, to those who are not doing well...

The envoys precede Jesus, they do not go in their own name or because of their preferences. Their only motivation is Jesus, their relationship with Him, who He is for them. Their only security is His word. Jesus does not promise that the path and mission will be easy. Being a sheep among wolves does not look very optimistic, and yet the Kingdom is drawing near...

...Jesus, I ask for inner clarity in bearing witness to You and Your Gospel... I ask for awareness of the responsibility to proclaim the Gospel to the whole world... Thank you for choosing me and enabling me to be a witness of faith in the vocation I have been given...
