EWANGELIA - Łk 12, 35-38 (Oczekiwać powrotu Pana)

Jezus powiedział do swoich uczniów:
«Niech będą przepasane biodra wasze i zapalone pochodnie. A wy podobni do ludzi oczekujących powrotu swego pana z uczty weselnej, aby mu zaraz otworzyć, gdy nadejdzie i zakołacze.
Szczęśliwi owi słudzy, których pan zastanie czuwających, gdy nadejdzie. Zaprawdę powiadam wam: Przepasze się i każe im zasiąść do stołu,
a obchodząc będzie im usługiwał. Czy o drugiej, czy o trzeciej straży przyjdzie, szczęśliwi oni, gdy ich tak zastanie».

MEDYTACJA

"On bowiem jest naszym pokojem" (Ef 2, 14)...

Bywają sytuacje, kiedy na coś czekamy. Wyglądamy przez okno, sprawdzamy powiadomienia w telefonie, nasłuchujemy, co się dzieje wokół nas.
Jezus zaleca swoim uczniom, by byli czujni. Zwraca im uwagę na to, by oczekiwać przyjścia Pana. Zamiast poszukiwań proponuje, by być gotowy i czuwać...

Jezus jest mostem łączącym niebo i ziemię. Bez Krwi Jezusa nie ma pojednania z Bogiem. Jedyną drogą do pokoju jest przyjęcie Chrystusa i przebaczenie...

Militarnym działaniem można zastraszyć, pokonać, zawstydzić, ale nie zmieni się serca. Walką zbrojną dąży się do zwalczania skutków, ale nie przyczyn...

Uczeń Chrystusa oczekuje na wypełnienie się obietnicy. Jest gotowy, czuwa. Nie jest to oczekiwanie napełnione lękiem. Rzeczywistość, która go otacza jest przejściowa, ale czekanie nie jest pustką. Jest to czas dawania świadectwa wobec świata...

Chrystus posyła swoich uczniów z misją głoszenia Ewangelii wszystkim. Historia jest miejscem próby, podjęcia decyzji i nawracania się. Uczeń nie porusza się jednak w ciemności, ale naśladuje swojego Pana, karmi się Eucharystią i służy potrzebującym...

Ludzie oczekują swego Pana. Człowiek oczekujący ma ‘przepasane biodra’, jest gotowy, trzyma ‘zapaloną pochodnię’. Naśladuje swojego Pana w pokornej służbie i daje świadectwo. Zapalona pochodnia oświeca innym drogę...

Temat nauczania Jezusa zmienia się. W trzech kolejnych perykopach, Jezus poucza uczniów, aby czujnie wyczekiwali Jego przyjścia. 'Przepasane biodra' oznaczają postawę gotowości. Czynność określona jako 'przepaść biodra' oznacza podnieść sięgającą do kostek szatę i wsadzić ją za pas, by można było szybciej biec na spotkanie...

'Zapalone pochodnie' nawiązują do posiłku paschalnego i wyjścia z Egiptu (te zdarzenia miały miejsce w nocy)...

Jezus przychodzi do nas na wiele sposobów. Jest w sakramentach, Słowie, przyrodzie, w drugim człowieku. Czasem łatwiej jest nam powiedzieć 'to jest Pan', gdy przyjmujemy Go w Komunii świętej, medytujemy nad pięknem przyrody. Trudniej, gdy przychodzi do drzwi w człowieku umęczonym życiem, samotnym, biednym, chorym, krzyczącym lub zbuntowanym...

Wybiegnijmy Chrystusowi na spotkanie, realnie lub duchowo. Nawet wówczas, gdy przychodzi w nocy albo w innym nieodpowiednim dla nas czasie...

Wiedzieć po co, wiedzieć dlaczego. Tego nam brakuje. Życie jako czuwanie aż pan domu przyjdzie. Rozumieć, że właśnie dlatego, że po to. I rozumieć, że nic nie mieliśmy, ani nadziei, 'ani Boga na tym świecie', a wszystko otrzymaliśmy...

Każdy podąża własną drogą, wiele okoliczności tu się liczy, niuansów i uwarunkowań. Patrząc wstecz, widzimy swoją ścieżkę i oceniamy, uznając ją za prostą albo pogmatwaną, czasami krytykując swój upór, czasem z ulgą puentując kolejne odkrycia...

Świadomość poszczególnych kroków na swojej ścieżce na pewno przydaje się, choćby po to, byśmy mogli wyrazić wdzięczność Bogu i ludziom czy spojrzeć na siebie z pokorą albo zrozumieć o innych coś ważnego. Wiedzieć po co, wiedzieć dlaczego. Czuwać...

Bóg nie potrzebuje, by ktoś na Niego czekał. Nie chodzi też o sprawienie Mu przyjemności i pokazanie, jak dla nas jest ważny. Mowa o postawie sług, którzy trwają w oczekiwaniu...

Gdy stoimy z pochodnią w ręku, by wyjść komuś na spotkanie, mamy zupełnie inne spojrzenie na otaczającą nas rzeczywistość. Rośnie w nas duch ofiary
i gotowości na to spotkanie. Przygotowujemy się i z radością wyglądamy nadchodzącego przyjaciela. Bóg nam dziś mówi: budujcie taką wiarę, byście
z radością, a nie ze strachem, oczekiwali przyjścia Pana...

...Jezu, proszę o serce czujne i gotowe na ostateczne spotkanie z Tobą... Proszę o łaskę cierpliwości w oczekiwaniu na spotkanie z Tobą... Dziękuję za łaskę czuwającej ufności...

GOSPEL - Lk 12, 35-38 (Waiting for the Lord's return)

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Let your loins be girded up and your lamps burning. And you be like men waiting for the return of their master from the wedding feast, that they may open for him immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants whom the master finds watching when he comes. Truly I say to you, he will gird himself and make them sit down at table, and will go and wait on them. Whether he comes at the second watch or the third, happy are they when he finds them so".

MEDITATION

"For he is our peace" (Eph 2, 14)...

There are situations when we are waiting for something. We look out the window, check the notifications on our phones, listen to what is happening around us.

Jesus recommends his disciples to be vigilant. He reminds them to wait for the Lord's coming. Instead of searching, he suggests being ready and watchful...

Jesus is the bridge connecting heaven and earth. Without the Blood of Jesus, there is no reconciliation with God. The only way to peace is to accept Christ and forgive...

Military action can intimidate, defeat, shame, but it will not change hearts. Armed combat aims to combat the effects, not the causes...

The disciple of Christ awaits the fulfillment of the promise. He is ready, he watches. This is not an expectation filled with fear. The reality that surrounds him is temporary, but waiting is not a void. This is a time to bear witness to the world...

Christ sends his disciples with the mission of proclaiming the Gospel to everyone. History is a place of testing, decision-making, and conversion. However, the disciple does not move in darkness, but imitates his Lord, feeds on the Eucharist, and serves those in need...

People await their Lord. The waiting man has his ‘loins girded’, he is ready, he holds a ‘lighted torch’. He imitates his Lord in humble service and bears witness. The lit torch lights the way for others...

The theme of Jesus’ teaching changes. In the next three pericopes, Jesus instructs the disciples to watchfully await His coming. ‘Loins girded’ signifies an attitude of readiness. The action described as ‘the gulf of the loin’ means to lift the garment reaching to the ankles and tuck it into the belt, so that one can run faster to the meeting...

The ‘lit torches’ refer to the Passover meal and the Exodus from Egypt (these events took place at night)...

Jesus comes to us in many ways. He is in the sacraments, the Word, nature, in other people. Sometimes it is easier for us to say ‘this is the Lord’ when we receive Him in Holy Communion, meditate on the beauty of nature. It is more difficult when he comes to the door in a person exhausted by life, lonely, poor, sick, screaming or rebellious...

Let us run to meet Christ, in reality or spiritually. Even when he comes at night or at another inconvenient time for us...

To know why, to know why. This is what we lack. Life as a vigil until the master of the house comes. To understand that precisely because for this. And to understand that we had nothing, no hope, 'no God in this world', and we received everything...

Everyone follows their own path, many circumstances, nuances and conditions count here. Looking back, we see our path and evaluate it, considering it simple or complicated, sometimes criticizing our own stubbornness, sometimes concluding with relief subsequent discoveries...

Awareness of the individual steps on our path is certainly useful, if only so that we can express gratitude to God and people or look at ourselves with humility or understand something important about others. Knowing why, knowing why. Watching...

God does not need anyone to wait for Him. It is not about pleasing Him or showing how important He is to us. We are talking about the attitude of servants who are in waiting...

When we stand with a torch in hand to go out to meet someone, we have a completely different perspective on the reality around us. The spirit of sacrifice and readiness for this encounter grows in us. We prepare ourselves and look forward to the coming friend with joy. God tells us today: build such faith that you await the coming of the Lord with joy, not fear...

...Jesus, I ask for a heart that is watchful and ready for the final meeting with You... I ask for the grace of patience in waiting for the meeting with You...
I thank you for the grace of watchful trust...
