SOBOTA, Święto rocznicy poświęcenia Bazyliki Laterańskiej

EWANGELIA - J 2, 13-22 (Mówił o świątyni swego Ciała)

Zbliżała się pora Paschy żydowskiej i Jezus udał się do Jerozolimy. W świątyni napotkał tych, którzy sprzedawali woły, baranki i gołębie, oraz siedzących za stołami bankierów.
Wówczas sporządziwszy sobie bicz ze sznurków, powypędzał wszystkich ze świątyni, także baranki i woły, porozrzucał monety bankierów, a stoły powywracał.
Do tych zaś, którzy sprzedawali gołębie, rzekł: «Weźcie to stąd, a nie róbcie z domu mego Ojca targowiska». Uczniowie Jego przypomnieli sobie, że napisano: «Gorliwość o dom Twój pożera Mnie».
W odpowiedzi zaś na to Żydzi rzekli do Niego: «Jakim znakiem wykażesz się wobec nas, skoro takie rzeczy czynisz?»
Jezus dał im taką odpowiedź: «Zburzcie tę świątynię, a Ja w trzech dniach wzniosę ją na nowo».
Powiedzieli do Niego Żydzi: «Czterdzieści sześć lat budowano tę świątynię, a Ty ją wzniesiesz w przeciągu trzech dni?» On zaś mówił o świątyni swego Ciała.
Gdy zatem zmartwychwstał, przypomnieli sobie uczniowie Jego, że to powiedział, i uwierzyli Pismu i słowu, które wyrzekł Jezus.

MEDYTACJA

Sposób funkcjonowania świątyni jerozolimskiej zakładał możliwość zakupu zwierząt przeznaczonych na ofiarę. Kupcy mogli jednak znajdować się w ściśle określonym miejscu, a zamiast tego zajmowali przestrzeń, która miała służyć modlitwie. Choć wizja Jezusa z biczem może budzić lęk, pokazuje jednak, jak mocno zależy Mu na tym, by świątynia była przestrzenią, w której najważniejszy jest Bóg...

Nasze serce jest Bożą świątynią, przestrzenią, w której On mówi i działa. Jest dla Niego ogromnie cenne. Czasem w życiu mylimy priorytety i gubimy się, goniąc za tym, co nie jest tego warte. Zobaczmy troskę Jezusa o to, by nasze życie przynosiło nie rozproszenie i zabieganie, ale harmonię i spokój...

Czasami, by coś uporządkować, potrzeba nie tyle przemeblowania, lecz pozbycia się przeszkód i ciężarów. Jezus przewraca stoły, wypędza zwierzęta
i bankierów. Tam, gdzie był tłum i zgiełk, zostaje wolne miejsce i cisza. Zostańmy z tą ciszą w sobie. To przestrzeń naszego spotkania z Nim...

Nie z budynku, ale z Serca Jezusowego, nowej i żywej świątyni Bożej, wypływa woda życia i krew, która zbawia, usprawiedliwia, wyzwala i odnawia człowieka. Kto pozwoli zanurzyć się w tej wodzie i krwi, ten będzie żyć...

Oczyszczając świątynię w Jerozolimie, Jezus objawia się jako prawdziwy prorok Boga Żywego, a jego słowa są nieustannie aktualne dla nawrócenia każdego serca...

Jezus nawiedza swoją świątynię. Wypędzenie przekupniów jest gestem oczyszczenia przybytku, wręcz zburzenia go i odbudowania na nowo jako świątyni Jego ciała zabitego i zmartwychwstałego...

Bóg powierza się i służy. Świątynia jest miejscem wspólnoty i miłości. Służenie braciom jest prawdziwą liturgią, którą obrzędy, kadzidła i sprzęty jedynie symbolizują. Jezus staje się tą nową świątynią. Jego ciało ukrzyżowane zostało zniszczone przez grzech. W zmartwychwstaniu staje się znakiem komunii między Bogiem i człowiekiem...

Postać Jezusa, który przewraca stoły, rozrzuca pieniądze bankierów, wypędza ludzi i zwierzęta ze świątyni, budzi przerażenie. Gniew Boga budzi w nas jak najgorsze skojarzenia. Ale takie oczyszczenie jest niezbędne...

Świątynia w Jerozolimie, a w zasadzie jej dziedziniec, była nie tylko miejscem uprawiania drobnego biznesu, bo znajdowały się tam kramy z dewocjonaliami, zwierzęta, które można było zakupić i złożyć w ofierze, ale i inne produkty. Była jednak także przestrzenią uprawiania polityki. To w tym miejscu przemawiali liderzy duchowi, ale i polityczno-społeczni tamtych czasów, przekonując do swoich racji...

Miejsce styku chrześcijaństwa z pieniędzmi, z polityką, jest trudnym wyzwaniem duchowym. Oby zawsze najważniejszy był dla nas Bóg, wierność Jego zasadom i troska o drugiego człowieka, a nie pogoń za pieniędzmi, sukcesem, władzą lub byciem zauważonym...

"Kościół również tego potrzebuje, aby nie zastępować miłości Chrystusa przestarzałymi strukturami, obsesjami z innych czasów, uwielbianiem własnej mentalności, fanatyzmami wszelkiego rodzaju, bo w końcu wszystko to zajmuje miejsce bezinteresownej miłości Boga, która wyzwala, ożywia, raduje serce
i karmi wspólnoty" (Papież Franciszek)...

"Z rany boku Chrystusa nadal płynie to źródło, które nigdy się nie wyczerpuje, nie przemija, zawsze ofiarowuje się na nowo temu, kto chce kochać. Tylko Jego miłość sprawi, że nowa ludzkość będzie możliwa" (Papież Franciszek)...

Święty Jan spisywał swoją Ewangelię już po zmartwychwstaniu Jezusa, Jego wniebowstąpieniu, zesłaniu Ducha Świętego i po kilkunastoletnim głoszeniu Dobrej Nowiny przez pierwszy Kościół. Fundamentem dla zrozumienia, kim jest Jezus i o co chodzi w Jego Wcieleniu, nauczaniu, radykalizmie, zaangażowaniu
i życiu, jest zmartwychwstanie. Wtedy to zostaje złamana wszelka siła zła...

Doświadczanie skutków zmartwychwstania, czyli odkupienia, dane jest nam przez kontakt z Bogiem. Dlatego Jezus wyrzuca przekupniów z dziedzińca pogan, miejsca na takie spotkanie przeznaczonego dla nie-Żydów w obrębie świątyni jerozolimskiej. Przestrzeń doświadczania Boga Żywego przysługuje każdemu. Korzystajmy z tej możliwości...

...Jezu, proszę o świadomość, że jestem umiłowaną świątynią Ojca... Proszę o łaskę zobaczenia Twojego ciała, zabitego i zmartwychwstałego, jako świątyni... Dziękuję za swój kościół, miejsce spotkania z Bogiem...

SATURDAY, Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica

GOSPEL - J 2:13-22 (He spoke of the temple of his Body)

The time of the Jewish Passover was approaching, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.
And he made himself a whip out of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and scattered the money changers' coins,
and overturned the tables.
And to those who sold doves he said, "Take these things from here, and do not make my Father's house a marketplace." His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."
The Jews answered and said to him, "What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?" Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple,
and in three days I will raise it up."
The Jews said to him, "It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?" But he was speaking of the temple of his body.
When he rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

MEDITATION

The way the temple in Jerusalem functioned assumed the possibility of buying animals for sacrifice. However, the merchants could be in a specific place,
and instead they occupied a space that was to be used for prayer. Although the vision of Jesus with a whip may arouse fear, it shows how much he cared for the temple to be a space in which God is the most important...

Our heart is God's temple, a space in which he speaks and acts. It is extremely valuable to him. Sometimes in life we ??confuse priorities and get lost, chasing after what is not worth it. Let us see Jesus' concern that our life brings not distraction and busyness, but harmony and peace...

Sometimes, to put something in order, it is not so much about rearranging the furniture, but about getting rid of obstacles and burdens. Jesus overturns tables, drives out animals and money changers. Where there was a crowd and noise, there is an empty space and silence. Let us stay with this silence within ourselves. This is the space of our encounter with Him...

Not from a building, but from the Heart of Jesus, the new and living temple of God, flows the water of life and blood that saves, justifies, liberates and renews man. Whoever allows himself to be immersed in this water and blood will live...

By cleansing the temple in Jerusalem, Jesus reveals himself as a true prophet of the Living God, and his words are constantly relevant for the conversion
of every heart...

Jesus visits his temple. The expulsion of the merchants is a gesture of cleansing the temple, of destroying it and rebuilding it anew as the temple of His body, killed and resurrected...

God entrusts himself and serves. The temple is a place of community and love. Serving the brothers is a true liturgy, which the rites, incense and furnishings only symbolize. Jesus becomes this new temple. His crucified body was destroyed by sin. In the resurrection it becomes a sign of communion between God and man...

The figure of Jesus, who overturns tables, scatters the money of the bankers, drives people and animals out of the temple, arouses terror. God's anger evokes in us the worst possible associations. But such a cleansing is necessary...

The temple in Jerusalem, or rather its courtyard, was not only a place for conducting small business, because there were stalls with devotional articles, animals that could be purchased and sacrificed, but also other products. However, it was also a space for conducting politics. It was here that spiritual leaders, but also political and social leaders of those times, spoke, convincing others of their arguments...

The place where Christianity meets money, with politics, is a difficult spiritual challenge. May God, fidelity to His principles and care for others always be
the most important thing for us, and not the pursuit of money, success, power or being noticed...

"The Church also needs this, so as not to replace the love of Christ with outdated structures, obsessions from other times, idolatry of one's own mentality, fanaticisms of all kinds, because in the end all this takes the place of the gratuitous love of God that liberates, enlivens, gladdens the heart and nourishes communities" (Pope Francis)...

"From the wound in Christ's side continues to flow that source that never runs out, never passes away, always offers itself anew to those who want to love. Only his love will make a new humanity possible" (Pope Francis)...

Saint John wrote his Gospel after Jesus' resurrection, his ascension, the sending of the Holy Spirit and after several years of preaching the Good News by
the early Church. The foundation for understanding who Jesus is and what His Incarnation, teaching, radicalism, commitment and life are all about is the resurrection. Then all the power of evil is broken...

Experiencing the effects of resurrection, or redemption, is given to us through contact with God. That is why Jesus throws the merchants out of the court
of the pagans, a place for such a meeting intended for non-Jews within the Jerusalem temple. The space of experiencing the Living God is available to everyone. Let us take advantage of this opportunity...

...Jesus, I ask for the awareness that I am the beloved temple of the Father... I ask for the grace to see your body, killed and resurrected, as a temple...
