EWANGELIA - Łk 4, 14-22a (Jezus jest Mesjaszem zapowiedzianym przez proroków)

Jezus powrócił w mocy Ducha do Galilei, a wieść o Nim rozeszła się po całej okolicy. On zaś nauczał w ich synagogach, wysławiany przez wszystkich.
Przyszedł również do Nazaretu, gdzie się wychował. W dzień szabatu udał się swoim zwyczajem do synagogi i powstał, aby czytać. Podano Mu księgę proroka Izajasza. Rozwinąwszy księgę, natrafił na miejsce, gdzie było napisane:
«Duch Pański spoczywa na Mnie,
ponieważ Mnie namaścił i posłał Mnie,
abym ubogim niósł dobrą nowinę,
więźniom głosił wolność,
a niewidomym przejrzenie;
abym uciśnionych odsyłał wolnych,
abym obwoływał rok łaski od Pana».
Zwinąwszy księgę oddał słudze i usiadł; a oczy wszystkich w synagodze były w Nim utkwione.
Począł więc mówić do nich: «Dziś spełniły się te słowa Pisma, któreście słyszeli». A wszyscy przyświadczali Mu i dziwili się pełnym wdzięku słowom, które płynęły z ust Jego.

MEDYTACJA

W swoim rodzinnym mieście Jezus był znany jako zwykły cieśla. W dzisiejszej Ewangelii widzimy, jak wraca do Nazaretu, odkrywając przed ludźmi o sobie coś nowego. To w mocy Ducha dokonuje się Jego objawienie. Moc Boża może zmieniać każdego z nas, aby realizował się ukryty w każdym z nas potencjał...

Obserwując zachowanie Jezusa w synagodze, widzimy Go jako kogoś, kto wie, kim jest i jaka jest Jego misja. Jezus wybierając fragment z Księgi Izajasza, mówi o sobie, że jest namaszczony i posłany dzięki Duchowi Pańskiemu. Ta pewność siebie jest wynikiem Jego jedności z Bogiem Ojcem. Dzięki zbawiennej miłości Boga także my jesteśmy wybrani, namaszczeni i posłani...

Słowo Boże jest żywe i może działać w naszym życiu cuda. Jezus wyjawia w świątyni, że przychodzi z pomocą do wszystkich, którzy jej potrzebują. Pragnie, aby łaska wylewała się na wszystkich. Blisko każdego z nas znajdują się ludzie ubodzy, więźniowie, niewidomi, uciśnieni. Czasem sami tego doświadczamy. Czytając dzisiejszą Ewangelię zobacz, do czego zaprasza nas Jezus...

"Przykazania Jego nie są ciężkie" (1 J 5, 3). Tę uwagę św. Jana, że przykazania nie są ciężkie, warto odczytać jako wskazanie, że są ważne. Co więcej, są one niezastąpione w budowaniu prawidłowych relacji z ludźmi. Nie wolno zbyt łatwo od nich dyspensować się. W ich wypełnianiu zawsze możemy liczyć na pomoc Boga. "Wystarczy ci mojej łaski" (2 Kor 12, 9) usłyszał św. Paweł, gdy przeżywał duchowe udręki...

Jezus nauczał w synagogach. To miejsca, gdzie Żydzi uroczyście obchodzili szabat, swój dzień święty. Czytali Prawo i Proroków czyli Pismo święte. Tam komentowano i tłumaczono znaczenie poszczególnych fragmentów Pisma. Każdy Żyd, bo obowiązek dotyczył mężczyzn, mógł zabrać głos, choć zwykle zadanie to było powierzone komuś obeznanemu w Piśmie...

Jezus regularnie uczęszczał do synagogi. W ten pierwszy z siedmiu łukaszowych szabatów natrafia na zapowiedź Roku Jubileuszowego. Nie wybiera tego fragmentu Pisma, ale natrafia nań i ogłasza swoje przyjście, jako wypełnienie słów Pisma...

„Dziś spełniły się te słowa Pisma”. Ewangelista Łukasz często podkreśla to dziś zbawienia. My często myślimy o zbawieniu kiedyś, na końcu czasów, po sądzie ostatecznym. Jednak Bóg wchodzi w życie człowieka dziś. Wobec każdego wypełniają się słowa Pisma, tu i teraz...

Synagoga w Galilei. Pierwsze, najprawdopodobniej, wystąpienie Chrystusa w tym miejscu. Jezus uświadamia pobożnych Żydów, którzy dokładnie znali Izajaszowe przepowiednie dotyczące Mesjasza, że On nim właśnie jest. Dobrze by było, aby i nasze życie było otwartą, realizującą się w życiu Ewangelią. Aby po tym rozpoznawali nas ludzie, że jesteśmy chrześcijanami...

Jezus pełen mocy Ducha powraca do Galilei, by tam, w swoich rodzinnych stronach głosić Dobrą Nowinę. W synagodze czyta fragment z proroka Izajasza. Pokazuje, że Jego misja jest skierowana do każdego, szczególnie do tych, którzy czują się odrzuceni, zranieni czy zagubieni. Słuchacze nie do końca rozumieli co do nich mówi. Może trudno było im uwierzyć w Jego misję, bo znali Go od dziecka...

Zebrani w synagodze ludzie znali Maryję i Józefa, widzieli, jak dorastał Jezus, a teraz mieli uwierzyć, że jest Mesjaszem. Jednak nie takiego Mesjasza oczekiwali. Marzyli o wodzu politycznym, który uwolni ich z niewoli rzymskiej i przywróci świetność państwa...

Jezus nie jest Mesjaszem ziemskiej władzy. On przyszedł do tych najmniejszych i najsłabszych, do więźniów, grzeszników, chorych, opuszczonych. W naszym życiu jesteśmy zaproszeni, by uczestniczyć w tej misji. Może nią być rozmowa z osobą potrzebującą wsparcia, dzielenie się tym, co posiadamy, czy też poświęcenie czasu na działalność charytatywną, społeczną. To nasza gotowość do służby i wierności Jego woli...

Jezus z mocą Ducha udaje się do Galilei i realizuje swoją misję, przechodząc z miejsca do miejsca, nauczając i uzdrawiając. Przybywa także do rodzinnego Nazaretu, gdzie przed zebranymi odsłania podstawę swojej działalności. W Nim spełniają się obietnice i zapowiedzi proroka Izajasza, a jednocześnie to właśnie On jest jedyną odpowiedzią na cierpienie, trud oraz zniewolenie ludzkości od tysięcy lat...

Nawet jeśli przez chwilę wydaje nam się, że jest inaczej, to nie ma i nie będzie nikogo innego, kto przyjdzie z tak skuteczną odpowiedzią na wszelkie ludzkie niedomagania. Tylko Chrystus przynosi nam zbawienie, które nie przemija , a więc nie jest tylko na chwilę...

...Jezu, proszę o dar duchowej przenikliwości w przeżywaniu tego, że jesteś... Proszę o umiejętność pokornego i uważnego słuchania Słowa, które każdego dnia jest do mnie kierowane... Dziękuję za to, że objawiasz mi swoją miłość...

GOSPEL - Lk 4, 14-22a (Jesus is the Messiah announced by the prophets)

Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news about him spread throughout the whole countryside. And he was teaching in their synagogues, and was praised by all.
He also came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. On the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom, and stood up to read. And they gave him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And he unrolled the book and found the place where it was written:
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor,
to proclaim freedom to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
He closed the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.
And he began to say to them, "Today these words of the scripture you have heard have been fulfilled." And all bore witness to him and marveled at the gracious words that came from his mouth.

MEDITATION

In his hometown, Jesus was known as an ordinary carpenter. In today's Gospel, we see him returning to Nazareth, revealing something new about himself to people. It is in the power of the Spirit that his revelation takes place. The power of God can change each of us, so that the potential hidden in each of us can be realized...

Observing Jesus' behavior in the synagogue, we see him as someone who knows who he is and what his mission is. Choosing a passage from the Book of Isaiah, Jesus says of himself that he is anointed and sent by the Spirit of the Lord. This self-confidence is the result of his unity with God the Father. Thanks to God's saving love, we too are chosen, anointed and sent...

The Word of God is alive and can work miracles in our lives. Jesus reveals in the temple that he comes to help all who need it. He wants grace to be poured out on everyone. There are poor people, prisoners, blind people, oppressed people close to each of us. Sometimes we experience this ourselves. When reading today's Gospel, see what Jesus invites us to...

"His commandments are not burdensome" (1 Jn 5:3). This remark by St. John that the commandments are not burdensome is worth reading as an indication that they are important. What's more, they are irreplaceable in building proper relationships with people. We must not dispense from them too easily. In fulfilling them, we can always count on God's help. "My grace is sufficient for you" (2 Cor 12:9) was heard by St. Paul when he was experiencing spiritual torment...

Jesus taught in the synagogues. These are places where Jews solemnly celebrated the Sabbath, their holy day. They read the Law and the Prophets, i.e. the Holy Scripture. There, the meaning of individual passages of Scripture was commented on and explained. Every Jew, because the obligation applied to men, could speak, although this task was usually entrusted to someone familiar with the Scriptures...

Jesus regularly attended the synagogue. On this first of the seven Luke Sabbaths, he came across the announcement of the Jubilee Year. He did not choose this passage of Scripture, but came across it and announced his coming as the fulfillment of the words of Scripture...

"Today these words of Scripture have been fulfilled." The evangelist Luke often emphasizes this today of salvation. We often think of salvation sometime, at the end of time, after the final judgment. However, God enters human life today. The words of Scripture are fulfilled for everyone, here and now...

A synagogue in Galilee. The first, most likely, appearance of Christ in this place. Jesus makes devout Jews, who knew Isaiah's prophecies about the Messiah in detail, aware that He is exactly that. It would be good if our lives were also an open, life-fulfilling Gospel. So that people would recognize us as Christians...

Jesus, full of the power of the Spirit, returns to Galilee to preach the Good News there, in his home region. In the synagogue, he reads a fragment from the prophet Isaiah. He shows that his mission is addressed to everyone, especially to those who feel rejected, hurt or lost. The listeners did not fully understand what he was saying to them. Perhaps it was difficult for them to believe in his mission, because they had known him since childhood...

The people gathered in the synagogue knew Mary and Joseph, they had seen Jesus grow up, and now they were to believe that he was the Messiah. However, this was not the Messiah they expected. They dreamed of a political leader who would free them from Roman slavery and restore the glory of the state...

Jesus is not the Messiah of earthly power. He came to the smallest and weakest, to prisoners, sinners, the sick, the abandoned. In our lives, we are invited to participate in this mission. It can be a conversation with a person in need of support, sharing what we have, or devoting time to charitable and social activities. It is our readiness to serve and be faithful to His will...

Jesus, with the power of the Spirit, goes to Galilee and carries out his mission, going from place to place, teaching and healing. He also comes to his hometown of Nazareth, where he reveals the basis of his activity to the gathered people. In Him, the promises and announcements of the prophet Isaiah are fulfilled, and at the same time, He is the only answer to the suffering, hardship and enslavement of humanity for thousands of years...

Even if for a moment it seems to us that it is different, there is and will be no one else who will come with such an effective answer to all human ailments. Only Christ brings us salvation that does not pass away, and therefore is not just for a moment...

...Jesus, I ask for the gift of spiritual insight in experiencing that you are... I ask for the ability to humbly and attentively listen to the Word that is addressed to me every day... Thank you for revealing your love to me...
